About Me

I am a designer, painter, and illustrator based in Lexington, South Carolina. I received my BFA in Painting from Winthrop University in 2019, followed by a Graphic Design certification at Emory University. Currently, I am pursuing my MS in Graphic Information Technology at Arizona State University, where my focus is on cross-media design and accessibility.

Living with Best’s disease, a retinal dystrophy that affects my central vision, has had a significant influence on both my art and my design work. Navigating the world with low vision has given me a unique perspective on how people interact with visuals and reinforced my belief that accessibility is not optional but essential in design. My goal is to create work that not only engages audiences aesthetically but also ensures inclusivity for people of all visual abilities.

I have always found myself caught between the worlds of fine art and digital design. Each discipline challenges and inspires me in different ways, and I have come to see this tension not as a limitation but as an opportunity. I consider myself simply an artist and as someone who explores creativity across mediums to tell stories, solve problems, and connects with others.

Much of my visual inspiration comes from dried flowers. I draw inspiration from the colors and shapes they create as they dry out. I find beauty in the way they transform over time, carrying a sense of impermanence and resilience. This theme weaves through both my fine art practice and my design projects, serving as a unifying motif that reflects my journey living with best's disease due to the visual changes and deterioration the disease causes.
